Anita Bessette Francis ’95 earned All-Region honors for the women’s soccer team and still remains on the program’s all-time scoring lists, despite only playing three seasons in the Scarlet and Brown.A Canton native, Anita transferred to St. Lawrence as a sophomore and never looked back. She finished her career with 56 points on 20 goals and 16 assists. She helped lead the Saints to 33 wins in three seasons, including 12 wins in her sophomore and junior years. She served as the team captain as a senior.Also a member of the Saints’ women’s hockey team and an assistant captain as a senior, Anita excelled in the classroom. She was a Presidential Scholar and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. She is a teacher at Canton Central School and has been the girls’ varsity hockey coach for 20 years, leading the Golden Bears to a Section X Championship and a spot in the New York State semifinals in 2016. She has also coached soccer, volleyball and softball at all levels. Anita lives in Canton with her husband, Scott, and her children, Brock and Sydnee.
