After starting the season with a tough 7-0 loss to Minnesota-Duluth, the Saints showed a bit of promise the following day, falling to the Bulldogs 4-3 in a tight contest. After a tie in their home opener the next weekend, the Saints reeled off seven straight wins by a combined score of 24-6.

In January, the program made a huge leap forward with a 3-2 win over Harvard in Cambridge, and the Saints advanced to the ECAC semifinals with a 1-0 win over New Hampshire. After a tough 7-1 loss to Harvard in the semifinals, the Saints were given an opportunity at redemption when they were selected to participate in the inaugural NCAA Women's Frozen Four.

Facing ECAC rival Dartmouth, the Saints jumped out to a 3-0 first-period lead on goals by Suzanne Fiacco, Chera Marshall and Jessica Wilson en route to a 3-1 win over the Big Green to advance to the national championship.

In the championship against Minnesota Duluth, the Saints once again scored first, with Amanda Sargeant giving the Saints a 1-0 lead, but the Bulldogs scored four straight goals before Isabelle Chartrand scored the game's final goal with an extra attacker on the ice in the final minute of play as the Saints lost, 4-2.

The Saints finished the season 24-8-3 and were third in the ECAC standings with a 18-4-2 league record.
